Newly appointed Gear Research Institute Board of Trustee’s member: Colleen M. Tomasello

Colleen is the Manger of Bearing, High Temp and Industrial Product Metallurgy at Latrobe Specialty Steel Company in Latrobe, PA. She graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical and Materials Science Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University. She also obtained a Master of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996 while working at Latrobe Steel. She has been working at Latrobe Steel for 21 years with a primary focus on re-melted quality alloys. While at Latrobe, she patented a carburizing stainless steel allow for high temperature applications and published 5 papers in several symposia and technical journals. Prior to Latrobe Steel, she worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company at the Research and Development Laboratory in Palo Alto, California. There she worked on various materials for high temperature applications and published 5 papers in technical journals (under her maiden name of McNally). Colleen is a member of the American Society of Metals (ASM) as well as a member of ASME. She also served on the I&SM (Iron and Steelmaker) Advisory committee for a 2 year period.
