We'd like to invite you to make a great investment today, by becoming a Corporate Member in the GRI!
The Gear Research Institute (GRI) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing research and development services to the gear industry. It contracts with the Applied Research Laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University to conduct its activities, which include pre-competitive, cooperative group and single-client research efforts. Educating and training the next generation of gear engineers is also a goal of the Institute.
We are initiating a campaign to recruit new corporate members to GRI. The membership fee is $600 per year. Please read on to understand how membership will benefit your organization.
With GRI located on the campus of a major university, undergraduate engineering students are constantly seeking temporary employment to enhance their resumes and their pocketbook. Currently, an occasional student is employed, full-time during summer and part-time during the semesters, when project funds allow.
In order to maximize this employment opportunity for undergraduates, the Board of Trustees decided at their September 16, 2009 meeting that all funds raised from corporate membership would be dedicated to supporting undergraduate students at GRI.
Matching funds to enhance undergraduate research experience will also be solicited from various foundations. Juniors and seniors will have an opportunity to set up gear durability test machines, measure gears for accuracy on gear inspection equipment and in general support the activities of the GRI. If the research experience is sufficiently novel this effort can also produce a student paper at the AGMA FTM.
The Board of GRI believes that providing gear related experience to engineering undergraduates will be of significant benefit to the industry, and we'll be happy to introduce those students to our members if the need should arise.
Further, membership entitles you to receive two newsletters a year describing the activities at the Institute, access to a password protected data base that lists all the reports that have been published by the Institute, an invitation to the Annual Meeting and special discounts to GRI sponsored events when they are held.
We're asking you to make a small investment today that could pay big dividends to the industry, and possibly your company, by sending your $600 membership check for the calendar year 2010 today.
